I'd like to thank Google...

I often go on about how much I love techy things...but in all honesty, when it comes to my iphone, it's not so much the phone I couldn't live without, it's mapquest and Google.  I wish I could say it was something cool like checking the stocks every day, or maybe some app telling me how my blood oxygen level is at this altitude compared to when I'm in the basement! :)

I'm also not a big phone talker...I think last month I used 20 min. of talking minutes, and I have over 2,500 rollover minutes in my account right now.  I don't text that much either...I'll text people if they text me, but I'm not one of those people that has long drawn out conversations over text (minus talking to Tara!).

However, I did get a message from AT&T last month just informing me that I use a LOT of data. Not even telling me that I should upgrade...just a, "Girl, you use a LOT of data!" kind of message.  So, I checked to see what all my data was being used on and...you guessed it...mapquest and google...and dictionary. I like looking up words too. :)

So, I decided to keep track of my day a couple days ago, just to see...
Well, my disposal has been broken, and that's just kind of gross.  I'd decided that I wanted to give a try of fixing it myself before calling in the reinforcements (aka my brother in law!).  So, what did I do? I Googled my kind of disposal and how to fix it.  I was told by "Joey the fix-it guy" that I needed a Hex Set.  So, I Googled that.

It was early, so I Googled the store hours of our local hardware store.  On my way home, I stopped at the grocery store and was looking for Capers, so I Googled which isle to find them in the grocery store.  When I got home, I Googled a video on watching someone fix a disposal.  I was feeling a combination of extreme self-pride in fixing my drain and fighting a strong gag reflex, as cleaning out a disposal is nothing short of disgusting...

That night, I went to a friend's house, so I mapquested directions.  I was running low on gas and I was in the country, so I mapquested the nearest gas station.  On my way home, I re-mapquested my way home.

So yeah...I use a lot of data.  However, I was able to fix a disposal for $5.39 (the cost of my hex set) and avoided annoying my brother-in-law, found my capers with great ease, made it to my friend's house without running out of gas, so I say it was well worth it!

You're hilarious! And I would agree that I'm not much of a phone talker either. I would much rather talk in person or have long drawn out conversations over text! haha

wow, nice work. And yes, google is awesome. It wasn't until Devin explain things to me that I realized Google totally runs the world (well, at least they run the internet).

I love my google app, especially the speak feature - who needs Syrie. :) And by the way, the fact that you fixed your own garbage disposal is pretty darn cool. I am way impressed!

Tami! This post reminds me so much of myself. I am the EXACT same way with my phone. I really don't like talking on my phone-- I'd much rather talk face-to-face with someone. I do text a lot more than I talk, but I'm not a crazy texter. But I am CRAZY about using my navigational system & the browser!! I feel like everywhere I go, I always use my navigation. In fact, sometimes I wonder how I got anywhere before that. I actually had to look at road signs and pay attention when driving! And I, too use countless apps to tell me the latest greatest movie or cheapest gas station. I think it's an asset to our awesome ENFP personality type, we're just plain resourceful. AND we're so personable that we'd almost always rather be face-to-face than just over a phone.

OK wow, insanely long comment. Sorry. Anyway, fun post :)
