Summertime Toast

Sometimes, I laugh too long and I talk too much.
Sometimes, I cry too easily and at the wrong time.
Sometimes, I sing off key and dance in the car.

And sometimes, I'm scared of hearing a "no"...so I don't even ask.
Sometimes, taking a risk looks too permanent and the fall too far.
Sometimes, I worry too much what strangers will think, and I forget Whose opinion really matters.

This Summer has been filled with a lot of "sometimes": a lot of laughing, car dancing, and some crying.  I'm learning to push through, to hear "no" and to take risks and fall.
I can't say I've learned...I will say I'm learning.
I can't say I've conquered...I can say I'm fighting.

I've heard a lot of toasts at weddings this summer, so I want to raise my glass to the lessons of summer, and to God, who has carried me through.
