Todd + Jen: Wedding

Earlier this summer, I was honored to get to shoot Todd + Jen's wedding at the Indian Springs Metropark in Michigan!  I loved all the thought that went into their details, and the bright colors she used to bring such a fun and bright pop to their day!! It was a really great day and I hope the images give you a peek into that!! But who can talk about the day better than Jen, the bride, herself?!  So in her own words...a from Jen:

With a four month engagement, long distance relationship, both of us working full-time and planning a cross-country move, needless to say our wedding planning was a bit stressful!  But all the planning paid off in the end, especially with so many helping hands.

For both of us the ceremony was the most important part of the wedding.  We spent a lot of time picking out a meaningful order of service, choosing scripture and hymns that were significant to us, incorporating communion into the service, and having my dad and grandpa both officiate.  We wrote our own vows since our relationship was originally built on writing to each other.  We wanted to get married outside since our favorite dates are to parks.  I've moved around my whole life and have no roots anywhere, so it was also significant to share our vows under a huge, deeply rooted oak tree.

We had fun making the wedding "ours", traditional with a twist!  I knew I wanted pops of happy colors (hence the yellow!), wildflowers, barbecue, and no wedding cake.  We wanted a fun, tasty, non-traditional meal.  Plus, since I just moved from Texas, we wanted to add a little Texas flair to the party with barbecue.  Todd doesn't like cake, and I don't like wedding cake, but we love ice cream, so we decided to have an ice-cream sundae bar instead!

One of my favorite memories from the wedding weekend is buying all the flowers.  My girl friends and I went very early on Saturday morning to a farmer's market to buy as many wildflowers as we could.  We drove home with several bucketfuls filling the back of a van.  What a gorgeous sight!  On Sunday morning my girl friends and Todd's brother-in-law sorted through all those flowers and made bouquets, corsages and boutonnieres, and filled bottles on tables.  When I see the flowers in the photos, I feel so loved by my friends.

In fact, I feel so loved and supported when I look at all our photos.  I smile every time I see how handsome Todd  looked and know that he wants to spend his life with me and love me forever.  Then there are all the people who surrounded us with their creativity. What a perfect way to start our life as husband and wife surrounded by such love!
