Lucky to be his...

I was thinking about my Dad today...and how proud I am to be his.

Many people don't know my Dad...he's a combination of generosity, craziness, and wisdom. He makes outlandish statements and thinks he can get away with it because he's Japanese and this isn't his culture so he claims he doesn't know better.  Crazy guy, he's only lived here for over 20 years!

He doesn't realize he has an accent...let's just say, the majority of people struggle understanding him! Sometimes I think it gets thicker the longer he lives here...not sure how that's happening.

He loves classical and jazz music, he makes amazing coffee, he can tell where tea was grown just by tasting it.  He's had the most diverse life experience of anyone I've known...he was even a professional race car driver until he met my mom.

My Dad is brilliant...I know I'm his daughter, but trust me, he is.  He can be somewhat intimidating to people...but has a love for his family and a very soft spot for all of his grandkids.

He's lost many at a very young age...he's been through some horrific times.  But he stands as a man today whose battle wounds are his greatest assets.

He's become my sounding board in about every area of my life...business, life, relationships, and his advice is of the utmost importance when I can't see a clear choice.  He lets me live life, while spotting me should I fall

His was the first text I got on my birthday...and I was reminded once again how lucky I am to be his.

Tam, I echo everything you said. What an amazing Dad we have. I'm so proud of who he is and so thankful I get to claim him as mine too! And there's nothing I love reading quite as much as his texts and emails!

I DO know your dad and I agree with your assessment. I wish our lives crossed so that I could spend more time with him, even if I'd have to put up with his brutal honesty. Though it sometimes hurts, it also helps. Love you dear.

So sweet! I was sitting here thinking about how much I respect your Dad and realized that most of what I know is simply what you say about him, since I haven't spent a ton of time around him myself. You speak so very highly of him...he is lucky to have you as his daughter.
