28

That's right. I'll say it. I'm turning 28. I can't help but cringe just a bit as I type that out...it doesn't hold the magic that 16, 18, 21, and 23 did. The other day, I found myself buying anti-aging creme. I don't know which I bought it for, my face or my attitude. Just call me Peter Pan, but I don't like growing up. The other day, I heard that 30's are the new 20's...somehow, that sentence (that truly makes no sense) made me feel better. Now that I think of it, I think it was the lady selling me the eye creme that told me that non-fact. Oh well, it worked. I bought the creme.
Suddenly "27" is sounding very young...and I know "28" will next year around this time! So, even though it's taken me a while to get to my point in this blog post...it's that

why do I let myself buy into the "grass-is-greener-on-the-other-side" lie?

Why am I not excited that it's another year of life lived? It's been a great life...of that, I can't complain. I'm off to a slow start, but I'm determined to enjoy turning 28...eye creme and all.
So, this coming Thursday, if you hear me complaining that I'm now 28, you have the right to remind me of this post! :)

Oh, and just a side note...I came into work (after being gone for a week) and found my name plate like this:

Trust me...This wasn't a gesture of love. I've spent a good 30 min. throughout the night looking at it. I think it's 'cause I'm tired, but it's kept me somewhat entertained, wondering what possessed someone to come to my desk simply to turn my faceplate upside down. :)

I didn't relish turning 28 either but you're right...we should be thankful for another year lived and the blessings that we've gained in that year. I hope you have a wonderful year. I think you're off to a good start with your business taking off and with Daddy and Rika's gift last night! I'm excited to see God work in your life this next year!

Love ya,
bek

Oh Tami, I can so related right now. All of a sudden it is hitting me that I am getting older too...

1) The kids I taught in 1st grade are now in high school.

2) I am turning 30 this year. I remember when my aunt and uncle and other people in the church turned 30. As a kid I thought they were SO OLD. So my question is this... are there kids at church looking at me in the same way!?!?!

3) Will I ever feel like I didn't JUST graduate from college?

As you, I too am thankful for another year of life lived, so I will embrace the years that God gives me. Even if that does mean getting older. ;)

Have an AMAZING 28th birthday! I love you!

Hey Tami!

Happy birthday! Hey, did you know I was at call to worship? I tried to find you to say hi, but you had already left. What a tragedy!! :)

Well, thanks for singing-- I really loved the evening. Once again, happy birthday!

Tami,

28 can't be that bad, at least you're not turning 27 in January...LOL

OH, and if you were my cubemate at Cat and were gone for a week on vacation, it would have taken you an hour to get your desk back together and probably a week to figure out everything that got messed with :-)
