Product Review: The Snuggie

I Googled "Blog Topic Ideas"...a true sign that my creative juices are resembling a very old prune.  One of the ideas suggested was to do a product review.  My thought on that? SNORE-ing!!! Who wants to read my opinion on some product? I know I don't.
So, it's now Wednesday and no blog post.  That's until I was sitting here at my desk realizing how freezing cold I am...a very common occurrence here in "The Cave".  What did I do?! Pull out my good ol' Snuggie.  That's right folks...I own one.  Laugh all you want, but I know Tara's got one too, so I'm going to hide behind her coolness and yell from behind it that, "It's okay to own one". As I was putting it on, I felt bad for this little misunderstood blanket.  It has gotten the attention of more bad jokes and press in it's short existence than I have my entire life.  So, that's when I decided to do a product review to defend this poor thing.

However, once I got started, I realized something...my one beef with the Snuggie is that my back gets cold.  I've said before that it needs velcro to close the back, and make those who wear it look just that more awesome.  You know you're jealous.

To solve this problem, I tend to wear mine backwards, take a belt and belt it...that's when I realized, this is just a very bad version of a Monk's house-robe...

I even tried a cool Senior Photo pose hoping that would help...

Nope.  I realized, I don't need a Snuggie...I just need a housecoat.  I would have tried harder at defending this blanket if it just wasn't SOOO blue.  But I hear you can get it in tiger print.  RaaAAAarrrr!! Yep, still not cool.

i have to say that i think snuggies are hysterical, mainly because of their name. it seems someone could have tried harder on the name if they didn't want it made fun of. :) the cheesy smiles of the people in advertisements enjoying their cozy comfort doesn't help either, but i have no doubt it's nice and warm. :)

Let me clarify, I have a Slanket NOT a Snuggie. It's Sky Mall's cool version of the Snuggie before Snuggie went and ruined its reputation! haha Just teasing. I agree with Shar though. The commercials with the family all gathered around the piano enjoying a cute little sing a long in their Snuggies while their little Yorkie is keeping warm as well is not exactly the best marketing that could have been done on the product, but what do I know? We all remember the commercial, love to talk about it and we own them! Nevermind, it's brilliant marketing all the way around! haha You're right though Tam, it honestly is almost easier to have a housecoat or footie pajamas! haha

I didn't know they got such a bad rap. Huh...well, I have to say, my back is always cold, and so a snuggie has never appealed to me. But whenever you talk about one, I seem to think I need one.

LOVED this post...you are SO funny!!

Klint got an off-brand Camo Snuggie for a exchange gift and he loves it (b/c he's always cold). It kind of creeps me out.

I must say that I have a snuggie and I LOVE IT!! I usually wear it when I'm sitting on a couch or recliner and this takes care of the cold back problem. I even got mine in the bright blue color because I wanted one as soon as they came out! How sad am I that I never gave it a thought that they would come out with much cooler colors (if the snuggie can be called cool in the first place).

Sincerely,
To Ashamed To Leave My Name :-)

I was just about to say "its a slanket from sky mall" is exactly what tara woudl say, and then i saw her comment haahaha. So funny.. I think they are great.. honestly they have such a bad rep.. but they are pretty handy. Someone got me a housecoat from anthro tho once, and its so cute i;'ve considered wearing it as a dress.. so maybe you can find one like that and make it multipurpose :)
