It was NOT a silent night...

A year ago, I had set the sound of a cricket as my alarm on my phone...worst decision ever. Since then, it's impossible for me to sleep with the sound of a cricket chirping...

Last Thursday night, I was exhausted from the day as I hopped in bed.  As soon as my head hit the pillow...chirp! chirp! .......OH. NO.  There's a cricket in my room.  However, this cricket sounded like he'd been smoking for the past 20 years, which creeped me out even more as I had visions of a cricket with a cigar hanging out of it's mouth and hair on its chest.

I moved my furniture around but could not find it!  I wasn't sure what to do...I could sleep on the couch in the family room, but I'm very stubborn...and I was NOT about to let a little singing insect kick me out of my room.  I promptly put on my boots (just in case I'd have to get out of bed and he'd hop on my foot! Yuck.) and got in bed.  Chirp! Chirp! ...I could tell this was going to be a long night.  I think I got about 2 hours of sleep that night.  I figured out half way through the night that if I had music playing, he wouldn't chirp as much...so as I laid in bed, music playing, and sleeping in my boots, I resented ever note that little critter sang to me.

Friday.  No noise.  Yay!!  I hop in bed.  As soon as my head hit the pillow...chirp! chirp!  You've GOT to be kidding me.  Let's just say that the next day, Heidi asked me why I'd sent a "Words with Friends" (aka Scrabble) move at 3:00am.  As I laid in bed for night two of the torturous serenade, once again, I had my boots on, music playing, and a bottle of bug spray in my hands that I'd randomly spray in the general vicinity of the noise not even bothering to open my eyes, I was so tired.

Saturday...as I was walking to my bathroom, sitting right in front of the door sat a little cricket.  Could this be him? My little Jiminy Cricket?  With one good smack, our relationship was ended.

One morning last week my alarm went off I opened my eyes threw back my sheet and noticed a black large insect of some sort laying dead beside me on the bed. I quickly flicked it out of bed and picked it up with Kleenex (not looking to what I shared my bed with last night) and now pray this is not something that happens again:)
Have a great week!
Love and Blessings from JA!
