Serendipity

Webster defines it as The faculty or phenomenon of finding valuable or agreeable things not sought for.

Serendipity...that's what it was.  I was driving and happened to look over and saw a cute little shop in this very small town...the next thing I knew, I was pulling over.  I had 15 min. to check out this store...maybe if I was lucky, they'd have cute paper goods.  I need to start practice styling print material.

As I walked in, I immediately knew I'd found a treasure in this store.  It was the perfect feel of boutique, Anthropologie-esque, and antique.  I glanced at the girl sitting behind the register and immediately recognized her as we share mutual friends...what was her name again?  ...Natalie.  That's right.  I know she does some photography...My sister had shown me her blog...she's good.  I'm not sure she knows who I am...oh yay!! They have cute cards...

Right about then, she walked up to me, "Are you Tami?"...oh! She does know me! "Yeah! You're Natalie right?" "Yeah.  I thought that was you when you walked in.  I read your blog." ...uh oh.  That means she either thinks I'm nuts or we're kindred spirits. :)  It usually seems to fall somewhere in those two camps!  ...she went on to make me realize she was the "kindred spirit" type.

We stood there and talked about photography, our philosophy behind how we shoot, and ended on the plans of finding a way to work together at some point in the future.  It was out of that conversation that I decided I wanted to do a workshop.  We exchanged numbers, and I walked out of there with a new project for my business, a new person to call on to shoot with, and most importantly, a new friend.

Webster defines Serendipity as finding valuable or agreeable things not sought for...I was looking for cards and came out with a friend.  I'd say that was Serendipity at it's finest. :)
